Overview

The founders have a dream that through UPH Surabaya many people may become the blessing for Indonesia and for the world.

To achieve that end, we realize that it will require more than just high academic standards and achievements. It will also need the formation of the mental and spiritual aspects of the whole Civitas Academica of UPH Surabaya. This is due to the fact that cognitive aspect, as commonly called our intellect, is only one of several aspects which define our personhood. There are also aspects of affective, psychomotoric and also spiritual. In view of this realization, UPH Surabaya makes a commitment to develop the whole personhood through a holistic education which develops three main areas such as knowledge, character, and skill as empowered by spirituality (the principle founded in Matthew 15:11)

Uniqueness

Although UPH Surabaya does not use the term “Christian” in our name, we understand ourselves as a higher educational institution which was founded upon the life and teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. That is the reason we develops our educational system based on the Biblical teaching according to the Reformed Tradition. We are also highly committed to the unity of the body of Christ and for this reason UPH Surabaya is eager to make partnership with all churches.

Spiritual Growth Department, then, supports UPH Vision and views it as a Systemic Christ-Centered Education. Therefore the main task of SG is helping Students, Staffs and Lecturers of UPH Surabaya in developing their respective personal relation with God. This fundamental, we believe, will eventually produce a whole personhood which support their academic endeavors as each individual prepare him/herself for the tasks ahead in the future.

Program

Programs of SG divided into:

• Communal
  • Wednesday Chapel for all students, staff and lecturer, held on 07.15 - 08.45 at Auditorium ZT 6th floor
  • Morning Devotion for all staff and lecturer every Monday, 07.10 - 08.10 at meeting room TT 7th floor
  • Morning Prayer for staff and lecturer on another work day, 07.00 - 07.20 at meeting room TT 7th floor.
  • Student Morning Prayer held depend on student agreement for their own department.
  • For annual activity, we have Staff Retreat (there are pictures), Students Camp, Christmas Celebration (there are pictures), Easter Celebration
  • Christian Value for Staff and Lecturer, designed to empower Staff and Lecturer with basic Christian doctrine.
  • Some training such as in stewardship, servant leadership, and Bible-study.
• Care Group

We realize that not all things will be covered by communal activity, that’s also making us build the community with small group that we call Care Group. These groups design to support each of members to grow in the knowing of God.

• Personal

For personal encouragement we also provide counseling for all member of UPH Surabaya.
